Accomplishments!

Riglee is doing great!  She sleeps 5-6 hours through the night.  Usually only one wake up about 5 am or so.  I went for my week appointment to have my staples removed - doc was a little bugged when we told him the hospital didn't do it.  I fit into my pre-pregnancy blue jeans for the appointment and I've lost all of the weight I gained during the pregnancy plus 9 lbs.  I am really excited about it.  It's the strict diet I've been on I'm sure.  I need to stick to it and when I get to start exercising again get to it, and hopefully I can loose a lot more!

Riglee Madalyn

We were in bed mostly asleep yesterday morning when I got a phone call.  I thought who in the world is calling me at 7 am.  I looked at my phone and it said it was my nutritionist.  I said to Adam for reals - why is she calling me so early and I ignored the call.  Then I listened to the voicemail.  It wasn't my nutritionist - apparently all outgoing phone calls from the hospital go from one number.  It was by OB GYN.  He left a message saying that due to the weather (they were reporting major ice for Friday morning) he wanted to do my c-section that day at 12:30 instead of Friday Morning!

I got very excited and called the hospital back to have them page him and call me.  He said to be at the hospital at 10 am.  So Adam and I made the final preparations and headed to the hospital.   We signed all the paperwork and they put me on the monitors, hooked me up to my iv and got everything going!  At about 11 they came in and said that my dr wanted to go ahead with the surgery and not wait until 12:30!  I started getting very nervous.

The anesthesia guy was great - that was the worst part last time - and there were no tears shed this time.  I was left awake throughout the whole procedure - last time the guy gave me something that knocked me out I suppose because I was crying so much!

I'm not sure exactly what time, but Riglee Madalyn arrived at 8 lbs 2 oz and 19 inches long.  I got to briefly see her in the operating room and then they took her to the nursery.  I didn't get to see her again for about 5 hours.  That's so hard to wait that long to see your baby!

I was sick most of the day yesterday.  Didn't make many calls or text many people.  The nausea was terrible.  I am on a regular diet and I am supposed to check my sugar before I eat this morning and 2 hours after to see how I do.

So my post never uploaded in the hospital - so here it is Monday and I'm finally posting, but hey, at least I am posting pictures right?? :)

Ready to be Done

So I have to email my blood sugar numbers and what I eat in the the nutritionist every 3-4 days and I have to go in and see them every week.  It really is a pain in the butt and I can't stand the one that is assigned to me - I met with the other one over the holidays because mine was out of town and I like her better.

Let me tell you just one of the reasons I don't like her...When I had to go to the hospital when I was pregnant with Parker to learn how to take shots etc, I had the same nutritionist, but they had no say in what I did because they weren't my doctor.  I saw an actual endocrinologist and he told me when to up my insulin, etc.  These nutritionists aren't doctors...More like nurses...Anyways - when she met with me and saw Adam she said "I can't believe you even considered having a baby with him after seeing how big his head was." Who says that?  Especially with him in the room?  She says stuff like that all the time.  Mom says she is just trying to be funny - but that isn't funny coming from a total stranger - I can't stand her.  If I had to choose between the crappy doctor from last time and this nutritionist, I would def pick the crappy doctor...That's how bad this experience has been.

Last week I met with them on Wed...They upped my bedtime shot by 2 units and on Friday they upped it 2 more units and today they are upping it 2 more units.  They want my morning sugar to be between 60-80 and its been in the 90s (which still isn't bad at all).  Today it was 84.  They aren't giving it a chance.  They are driving me crazy.  I can't wait to not have to email them and see them.  It really is a pain.  Luckily I only have 4 1/2 weeks to go!  Baby will be here Feb 4 if not sooner!!!

*I wonder if she knows about my blog and reads it, this would probably offend her if she did read it, but it def is the truth.

Terrible Twos

It seems my cute little boy has hit the age when he is going to test me and try my patience.

He hits, throws anything when he is mad or in trouble, spits, and throws tantrums when he doesn't get his way.  It can be a little stressful at times.  The key is to be patient and stick to the rules and not bend.  He knows what's allowed and what isn't.

It hasn't helped that his playmate (Adam) has been off of work for two weeks.  And that he has had tons of cousins to play with over the holidays and now its going to just be him again.

It's going to be hard getting him back on his schedule of napping every day for me, but hopefully he will.  My goal is to get him in bed earlier too - no more late nights - he needs to be in bed no later than 9.  That's late enough for a little kid - everyone else I know puts their kids to bed between 7 and 8:30.  We'll see how it goes.

We also are getting anxious for the birth of our little girl.  The c-section date is set and I couldn't be more excited.

I am so tired of counting carbs, checking my sugar, only eating certain things, watching everyone else enjoy my favorites.  Not sure how they will monitor me in the hospital and when the baby comes, but I am ready to have a shake, a piece of cake, some candy, eat as much bread as I want, actually eat a bowl of cereal and not just 3/4 of a cup (that isn't much when you really measure it out).

Baby Update

So I still don't have my camera nearby to post pictures from Christmas, but we did have a wonderful Christmas day and day after with my family.  We got so many great gifts and really appreciate everything from our families.  I promise I will post them!

I had my 34 week checkup today and an ultrasound.  The doc said everything is going great and that the baby seems to be healthy.  According to the ultrasound, the baby is 5 lbs 11 oz, but I don't really believe all that haha.  Looks like Baby Girl Haynes will be here around Feb 4 - (my actual due date is Feb 9th though, but doc said he would take her early!).  We are ready and looking forward to meeting our little girl!

A Day in the Life of Me....

I know there are several people out there that are dying to be pregnant and have children of their own....I feel so bad for them.  Come February, we will be blessed to have Baby #2 enter our lives and we can't be happier.  It makes me sad to think that I have friends and family members that may never experience the joys and pains of pregnancy and having a baby of their very own.

I'm not writing tonight to depress people (someone told me the other day they hate reading my blog because it's depressing...maybe it is...but it's life and how I feel...), I am writing all this down so a few years down the road I remember everything I had to go through....

Every morning before I do anything, I have to take a Ketone Test to see if fats have been passing to the baby.  Then I have to check my blood glucose to see what it is.  They want it between 60 and 80 and I'm usually in the 80s...which is not bad at all, but since I'm pregnant it's considered "high".

Then I have to eat a breakfast with 2 carbs and a protein and take an insulin shot.

2 hours later I check my sugar again.  They want it under 120, but if it's in the 110's it's considered too high.  I am also supposed to eat a snack consisting of 1 carb and 1 protein.  Did I mention 1 carb is really 15 grams.  So like 50 goldfish, or 13 cheetos, or 3 graham cracker squares (not even 2 whole graham crackers), or 15 animal crackers.  I have to count everything now and measure and weigh my food.  Kind of a pain in the butt!

Then at lunch I get 3 carbs and a protein and have to take another insulin shot.

2 hours later, I check my sugar again and eat another snack.

Then at dinner time, I get 3 carbs and a protein and take another shot.

2 hours later, I check my sugar again and eat another snack consisting of 2 carbs and a protein. (today they told me to eat something like peanut butter crackers - kinda hard when I am only allotted 1 tbsp of peanut butter a day right??, or a turkey sandwich, or an egg salad sandwich, or a grilled cheese sandwich... For reals?  Who wants to eat that much at night right before bed?

With that snack I have to take another insulin shot.

Taking shots 4 times a day isn't as much a pain in the butt as watching the clock for the two hour mark to check my sugar after all three meals.

It's also a pain to email my numbers and everything I eat in to the Nurse every 4 days and to go every week.  I drive 30-45 minutes for a 5 minute visit with a nutritionist...that all I do is reshow them my numbers and what I ate.  Oh and they want to see my meter so they can check my numbers because I could be lying on the chart and they want to make sure I'm not...Why would I do that?  I'm honest and tell them when it's over what it should be...then I also tell them why...I ate 4 carbs that night instead of 3... etc.

It has made life difficult to measure out food, only eat a certain amount at a certain time, and check my sugar at very inconvenient times.

I am enjoying being pregnant and feeling our baby girl kick and beat the heck out of me.  But I am tired of all of this crap that I am having to do.  I realize it's for the baby to be healthy, but this is something that I do not wish on anyone....

I went to a different diabetes doctor with Parker and now that I've done both roads, I feel if I get pregnant a third time, I shouldn't have to go to one of them.  My OB/GYN should just write me a prescription for the insulin and I can decide for myself how much to give me.

Oh yeah on a side note - this week they upped all of my units of insulin by 2 units.  It's not because my numbers are high, it's because they want the numbers to stay the way they are.  For reals?  I don't think that's good to just give someone insulin because you feel like it!  Give me more if my numbers show I need it...

And so it begins...

I went to my gestational diabetes appointment yesterday.  Let me just tell you - after having gone through it all with Parker, I felt like it was a total waste of my time.  I didn't learn anything new except I check my sugar at different times than I did with Parker, I take different insulin, and I have to eat 3 meals and 3 snacks.  Last time it was 3 meals and 1 snack.

At each meal I have to eat so many carbs, meats and fats.  Breakfast is 2 carbs (15 g is 1 carb) snack is 1 carb, lunch is 3 carbs, snack 1 carb, dinner 3 carbs, snack 2 carbs.  That's not counting all the meats, fats, and veggies I have to add to it.  That is a lot more food than I've been eating.

I'm not looking forward to being on a set schedule either.  I have to check my sugar at certain times and take my shots at certain times and eat at certain times....I have been waking up about 9, eating about 10 or 11 and then a small snack or small lunch around 2 or so and then I'll eat dinner when Adam gets home...

No more sweets or anything like that - which kind of bites because I've been craving Twizzlers pull n peel this pregnancy.  I did it before I suppose I can do it again.  Luckily, I only have 9 weeks until the baby comes because of my scheduled c-sec!

The Waiting Begins

I took my 3 hour glucose test yesterday and I just called and they supposedly don't have the results yet.  I mean they for reals might not.  But the tech did tell me that the lab is open 24 hours and the doctor's office gets the results the next day.  Last week after the one hour test I got a call the next day at 8:40 am.  I just really want to know - I don't like secrets or surprises.  Just tell me.  UGH!

Hectic

It has been a crazy week to say the least.  We found out Saturday morning that my Grandfather passed away.  We have spent the majority of the week with my family.  It was good to see aunts, uncles and cousins that I haven't seen in years.  It was also great that Court and Crick were able to fly in to be with us (even though they had to make crazy sacrifices - one had to fly from utah to houston to austin and drive the four hours because it was cheaper to do that and the other had to fly from chicago to houston to lake charles because it was the cheaper way as well).  My sister and her three kids came down and stayed at my house and it was so good to spend time with them before they move even further away.

At the funeral, I cried.  I'm not really sure.  I don't really feel like it was the sadness - I'm not sure what it was - a few tears were dropped as the Eulogy was being given and then several tears were shed as my brother talked about Christ and how we can all return to be with him one day.  This particular brother showed more emotion than I was ever expecting.  He's the tough guy, never sick, lets things roll off his back, but I could see that he was getting a little emotional.

In the middle of all of this, I had my Gestational test.  It's hard to believe I'm 28 weeks.  The range is 65-139 and my number that the test got was 162.  A little high, but not as high as my personal meter got - I checked it right before and right after they took my blood.  One reading I got was 196 and the other was 193.  Good to know that my meter is still a good 30 points off.  (do you sense the sarcasm??)

I now get to do the three hour test which I am not looking forward to, but I'll do whatever I have to do to keep this baby healthy.

Baby Haynes #2

I had my Ultrasound Appointment Yesterday. The baby wasn't wanting to show its face to us. It took forever for the Ultrasound Tech to get a picture for us. The baby was moving all over the place and punching like crazy. We are so excited that Parker is going to be a big brother to a little sister!!! :)

We are having a hard time agreeing on names.  We realize that it is pretty much impossible to use a name that we don't know anyone with the name, but we are trying really hard.  I want something different that isn't very common.  Adam and I both have very common names, and I don't want there to be 3 or 4 kids with my kid's name in school.  People are telling me that it isn't a big deal and to use whatever name I want, but I don't want to use a name that has been used in our close family or if another family we know has used the name in the last few years.  Is that so much to ask?  I had picked out McKenna when I was about 12 or 14 and a close cousin used it with her little girl and we had Alexis picked out, but another cousin/aunt something (it's kinda confusing if you ask me haha) had a baby a few weeks ago and used that name.

I'm not going to "steal" someone's name.  A good friend of mine has a little boy a little older than Parker with the name Parker.  I feel like we stole it from them...I mean we didn't we found it among the 1000s of other names we looked at and we both agreed that's what we were going to name him and then I realized that they had the name.  I really want it to be different with this one.

It's really frustrating when people tell me that I'm being silly or ridiculous about it.

We like Brooklyn, Kinsley, Berkley, and Alexie (it's Greek or Russian and pronoucned Allie - but since it's so close to Alexis, I'm not so sure about this one anymore).  We shall see what happens...

Dear Verizon and Blood Sugar

Dear Verizon,
Why do you have to make my life difficult?  I had to get a new phone in May because mine broke.  I had to get another in August because the replacement broke.  Then I had to get one a week ago because the replacement for the replacement broke.  (That's 4 so far)  Then that one broke the day I got it.  So you send me a totally different brand and model that is comprable to the one I had.  I got it in the mail and so far it's been great.

However, today I get an email from you telling me that you are charging me the $9.99 for the Data Plan.  When the guy told me he was sending me a totally different phone, I asked him if I would be charged and he assured me that I would be.  So I call you today right after receiving the letter and the lady tells me my phone won't work without me paying for the data plan.  Yeah the internet won't work (actually it will I will just have to pay per megabyte) but I will still be able to make calls, receive calls, send texts and receive texts.  That's all I need my phone to do.  When I asked to speak to the supervisor she told me that she would put one on the phone but never did.  She told me that she couldn't take that off my bill because it wouldn't allow her to do it.  Not 3 or 4 minutes later after being on hold she told me the reason I wasn't paying is being I was grandfathered.  You see - they started charging the $9.99 for the phone I had after I had gotten it, so I didn't have to pay for it.  She told me I wasn't grandfathered for this one.  It's not my fault my phone broke and you sent me a new one.  So she finally said - This is your replacement phone (which should be on my account in front of her right?? it should tell her that...) and then put me on hold again.

She came back and said I'm sorry.  I'll take that off your phone right away and if you get on the internet you will be charged per megabyte.

Read your notes Verizon before you tell the customer they are wrong and you can't do something.  At least she was very polite and nice the whole time... UGH

-Kimberly

Around noon toady - I realized I hadn't eaten anything and was getting pretty hungry so Parker and I shared two bowls of delicious Cinnamon Toast Crunch.  It was so dang good!!  Around 2 o'clock - just after all the Verizon crap I explained above I checked my sugar and it was 145 - HOLY COW!  They do say stress increases your sugar, but still.  I drank about 6 oz of Mountain Dew Throwback (great stuff!!) and got up to go sweep the kitchen floor and start cleaning the bathroom.  I scrubbed all the counters in the bathroom, the mirrors, the sink and the top of the tub (it's a garden tub you see so it has a huge lip around it).  I still need to do the inside of the tub, toilet, shower and floor - ugh I hate that part!!!  But I decided to go check my blood sugar again and it was down to 94!!!  So either the 145 was an error, or by cleaning a little, my stress level dropped (even after mountain dew - it should have gone up with that stuff!!).

I am super excited that so far with Baby #2 no gestational diabetes has shown up.  I continue to pray every day that I will remain healthy throughout this pregnancy and that gestational diabetes will stay away!  :)

Baby Names

We are having a hard time coming up with cute/clever baby names.  We find out if it's a girl or boy on October 6, but I want to have some names in mind.   Some names Adam loves and some names I love... we are having a hard time agreeing!  I'm not going to tell you who likes what!  Go vote for your favorite boy name and girl name on the right column (there are 2 different polls) so we can see what all of our friends think we should name Baby #2!

If you don't see a name on the list you like or think is unique and cute, click the I don't like any and then leave a comment on this post with a name you do like!!! :)
