Conference

This weekend our church had conference and it was amazing.  Elder Holland came and spoke to us and switched out our Stake Presidency.

Our family had the opportunity to feed Elder Holland.  He was so polite and funny.  He shook our hands and told my mom that he would like to fly in every weekend for her to fee him!  He also told Mom that she was his very own Betty Crocker or something like that.  Before my dad could introduce Kari, Elder Holland told her she looked just like my mom.

He also talked to Riglee and said that she was the pretty little girl that he saw being passed around Saturday night at conference.  Haha -- She started out sitting with Adam's Parents and then was ready for her bottle so I had to go get her from them...

It was a pretty amazing experience and I'm glad I suffered through my back pain to attend and help mom feed him and the Stake Presidency.  I am sad that I missed out on Sunday feeding them lunch.  I came home and My parents, sister and sister in law got to sit at the table with Elder Holland and visit with him while he ate his lunch before he headed to the airport.  What a neat experience that would have been.

Mother's Day 2011

Adam and Parker wrote a poem for me last year - and this year Parker was big enough to actually read it to me himself!  Adam took him in the back and recorded him saying it and put it to music.  Tears came to my eyes when I heard it!

  Dear Mommy by obviouslyadam

Here are the words to help you understand what he's saying:

Dear Mommy
By: Parker
Dear Mommy I Love You
I swear that I do
even when I'm bad
Or make mean faces at you
Dear Mommy I Need You
when things scare me at night
I’m ever so grateful
that you're in my life

Kim's Sonnet

Adam wrote a sonnet for me for our 3rd Anniversary and posted it on facebook - but I wanted to put it on here so that I wouldn't lose it.

Kim's Sonnet

Life's cruel waves have battered much
Upon the heart of this poor wretch
Unsure of life and love and such
I wandered long a soul to fetch
Then it happened in a summer's day
I found new life in your small glance
A fleeting smile, so short to stay
Had stoked the fires of new romance
A burning blaze that no words convey
A whirlwind dance preceded then
To sweep us up and intertwine
Two hearts as one to beat and spin
Til my feet grow weary and eyes decline
Yet tonight I rest in heaven's view
Because tonight i rest with you

Happy anniversary sweet heart

Videos

Below the post, I posted three videos that I absolutely love and wanted to share with whoever reads my blog.  It's all about family and parents spending time with their children.  To often we get busy and forget that we need to take time to goof off and imagine with our children.  They value their time with us and it's important that we give it to them.

3rd Anniversary

Adam and I celebrated our 3rd Anniversary this past weekend since our actual anniversary was last Tuesday.  Parker spend the weekend with Adam's Parents and My Parents volunteered to keep Riglee!  We were going to take her with us, but when they offered, we took it.

We didn't go anywhere too amazing etc since we are trying to save money, etc.  We decided that we would just stay the night in Houston one night and then spend the day just the two of us.  We headed out Friday afternoon about 2ish and went to Katy.  I absolutely love Katy Mills Mall (I dunno why - I just do!) and so we got a hotel close to there.  We shopped around and hit up a lot of clearance racks!  I absolutely love a good sale and since I need new clothes we found me some cute shirts for cheap!

After we shopped, we went to dinner at TGI Fridays - we ate there the night before we got married after I got my endowments - so that's where Adam wanted to eat...It wasn't the best meal - but it was pretty good and we have a $10 off card for our next visit before April something - and there isn't one close - maybe we can give it to someone that can actually use it!

Here is our appetizer that we both devoured...I guess we were both hungry!
Here is Adam waiting for our food...
And my Sandwich that I ordered - I was full and so I got a to go box to put it in and then left it in the hotel fridge when we checked out - I was a lil sad...
After dinner we headed to the movie theater at the mall to see what was playing...
We ended up seeing Red Riding Hood because it had the closest starting time - totally not worth the $9.50 we spent on each ticket...I hate when they put parts in movies they could have totally left out too!
Then we headed back to the hotel...
It was such a nice room - King bed even! I have decided when we buy a bed (ours was mine from before we were married and even then it was a hand-me-down) we need a king bed! There was so much room and space!
Adam relaxed in the hot tub...and I dozed on the bed watching The Celebrity Apprentice...
I absolutely loved the fact that our whole hotel was 100% smoke free! Every hotel should be that way!!

Saturday Morning we went to Houston Premium Outlets - we didn't find as many sales as we did at Katy Mills - But we did score Adam some $50 shirts from American Eagle for only 12 bucks!  It is such a nice outlet mall - if you are ever near Cypress, you should check it out!

We then headed to the Galleria to eat at The Cheesecake Factory - however, it was so busy and crowded that we ate at The Rainforest Cafe instead.

I have decided that I hate the Galleria - it is way to busy for my liking!  We walked across the street and found a JAMBA JUICE!!! I absolutely love Jamba and have missed it terribly!

We also found an Old Navy across the street that was so unorganized it was a pain shopping there - so we left!

It was nice spending time together just the two of us - We love our kids and love spending time with them, but that time for just the two of us was desperately needed!

Pretty Much Amazing

So the picture doesn't do it justice - probably because I'm not a photog and probably because it was taken with my phone, but this dip is AMAZING!!

It's called Green Sauce.  If you want the recipe go to Chezfruge.com and search for green sauce...You will be happy you did!!

Yesterday Was Not My Day...But I Did Get to Sleep All Night!

So I don't even know if anyone even reads this anymore - but who really cares - honestly I started a blog to remind me of things when I get older and start to forget.  Which is already started happening!  It's more like a journal of the crazy things that have happened or the fun or the bad etc.

Anyways - Yesterday - I told you all about the tree roach that decided to take over my bed.  All roaches are nasty and disgusting but I'll take a tree roach any day over those nasty cockroaches - mega gross!

Well I washed my comforter and spread it out over the couch to dry because the dryer isn't working and then put a new set of sheets on my bed.  I figured I'd just wash the nasty roach gut sheets when the dryer got fixed since I had a spare set.

That was until I put both kids on my bed and changed both diapers and when I picked them both up - there was a wet spot on my sheets.  Pee? Maybe.  Spit Up?  Maybe.  Annoying? Yes!

So I took the flat sheet off the bed and noticed it had gone through that (both kids were laying on top of a blanket mind you).  I then proceeded to take off the fitted sheet because it was on that.

Then I even had to take off the mattress pad because he had gotten on that!  UGH!  I don't have an extra extra set of sheets!  or an extra mattress pad!  So I headed to my sisters house, put both sets of sheets in her washer and headed to Wal-Mart.  I found another mattress pad for cheap - so that we would now have an extra and looked for a comforter set (bed in bag or something) that kind of matched what we already have.

It is nice to have spares of everything you know.

Well our sets now are in the brown family (as in the color brown) and all I could find were sets with black at 3 different stores!  That's okay no biggie right - At least I'll have clean sheets.

That took up most of my day - then we headed to dinner with Friends - Friends that we've missed - Friends that we haven't spent time with since Riglee was born and she's a month old now.

While we were all sitting there enjoying a nice dinner - with 6 adults, a 5 year old, a 2 year old, a 9 month old and a 1 month old - I was attempting to clean up after the 2 year old (Parker) and knocked over my full cup of diet dr pepper and it went rushing towards Matt!

Luckily he has great reflexes and moved out of the way in time and stopped the river of ddp with his hand.  Ryan told me to throw the whole roll of paper towels down on the spill - but did I listen?  No - but I should have!

While I was cleaning that up - I spilled over my cup of salsa!

Yesterday was not my day at all!

But Parker was in bed around 11 (pretty good for him and us) and Riglee followed shortly there after.

When I heard her fussing this morning I looked at the clock and saw what time it was.  6:58 am.  Yep she made it all night!  I'm pretty happy about it.

She is an amazing little girl and we love her a lot!  She is really good except for the fact that she pees every time I change her diaper.  She doesn't do that for Adam or for my Mom...the little stinker!

The End.

About Time it Fell Off!

Today was one of those days where you just wanted to lounge and do nothing - especially after the night we had!  Riglee slept from 12-4:30 and then she was awake until 6:30 and wanted to be held!  Not fun!  Parker woke up at 6:00 wanting Awna D, Kia and Matt.  I think he even asked where Justin and Caryn were - but I was so tired who knows.  I finally got Riglee to sleep and then went and cuddled Parker in his bed to sleep.  Adam had to be at work at 8:45 this morning - so it was all me trying to get the two back to sleep!

Riglee then woke up about 9ish wanting food - I was glad I got to sleep that long!

No one showed up for Adam's workshop so he was home before 10 and then Kari showed up to work on stuff.  We spent the rest of the morning visiting and shopping online with Kari and Mom.  Then Kari, Mom and Parker cleaned Kari's car - I'll have to post pictures of that later!

The real reason I'm blogging tonight though - is so that I'll remember today was the day that Riglee's Umbilical Cord finally fell off!  We kept hoping it would happen and it finally did.  It was a stubborn thing.  So tonight she took her first real bath that wasn't a sponge bath (thanks to Awna D)!

It's been a big help staying with my parents for a while.  They have both been a huge help with both of the kids - in fact every evening Mom comes in from work, feeds Riglee her evening bottle and then they snooze together in the chair until it's time for her late night bottle and bed!  I'll have to get pictures of that one night!

Good Nights Rest

Riglee did pretty good last night!  My mom fed her for us at 9:30ish and she fell asleep around 10 or so.  She didn't wake up wanting food until 4:30!  After I fed her and changed her diaper, she went back to sleep and slept until 9:00!

Parker went to sleep last night at the table sitting in Aunt Kia's lap playing the ipad at 9:30.  Adam came and got him, changed his diaper, put him in pajamas, put him in bed and Parker stayed asleep through it all!  He didn't wake up this morning until after 10!

Let's just say it was a good night!  Although I stayed up with my mom until about 12:30 and then I went in and emptied the dishwasher and reloaded it.  So I didn't get to bed until 1 or so, but it was definitely a successful night!

Sisters

Have you ever seen the movie White Christmas with Bing Crosby?  You know when the sisters, Betty and Judy, sing the song Sisters?

The words go a little something like this:
Sisters, sisters
There were never such devoted sisters,
Never had to have a chaperone, No sir,
I'm here to keep my eye on her
Caring, sharing
Every little thing that we are wearing
When a certain gentleman arrived from Rome
She wore the dress, and I stayed home
All kinds of weather, we stick together
The same in the rain and sun
Two different faces, but in tight places
We think and we act as one
Those who have seen us *
Know that not a thing could come between us
Many men have tried to split us up, but no one can
Lord help the mister who comes between me and my sister
And Lord help the sister, who comes between me and my man

Well I'm pretty sure I have the best sisters ever.
I talk to them almost every day - just to chat and see what's going on.

The oldest one planned and did my whole baby shower for Riglee.
She lets us go visit whenever we want.
She came the Saturday after Riglee was born just for the day to see us.
She calls and checks on me all the time.
Yeah, she's pretty much amazing.

The younger one has taken Parker as her own.
Really, She's Parker's second Mom.
She babysat for us when Riglee was born (her husband helped too).
She bought Riglee the cutest newborn clothes after she was born because she was so tiny and only had like 2 newborn size outfits.
She let Parker spend the night so we could have some much needed quiet/relaxation time.
Yeah, she's pretty much the bomb dot com.

I really appreciate both of them and everything they do for me and my fam.

Tough Evening, Good Night, All Night

Last night was a little rough getting Parker to go to bed.  Adam read him a story and he kept making excuses to get out of bed.  His leg hurt, his teeth hurt, he needed to tell me good night, he needed to tell Awna D good night, he needed a drink, the list goes on and on.  Finally at 11:30, I decided enough was enough and that I would give Adam a break and I would take a turn with him.  Well - when I go in there, it isn't good news for Parker.  I put him in bed, covered him, kissed his forehead and said good night and then put a child lock on his door so he couldn't come out.  I hated to do it, but Adam had been trying for an hour to get him in bed.  He stood by his door crying, trying to get out for about 5 minutes, and then there was silence.  I waited a few more minutes before I went and checked on him and he was in bed asleep.  He has got to start going to bed at a decent time and we have to get him to go to bed without putting up so much of a fight.

Perhaps it's because Riglee sleeps in our room and he feels left out.  When Riglee gets on a better sleep schedule, she will be sleeping in his room, but until then, I'm not sure what to do!

Riglee did sleep from midnight until seven this morning!  It was definitely needed.  Poor Adam - he's exhausted from the late nights with Parker, middle of the night feedings with Riglee (yes I get up and feed her, but Adam wakes up), and early mornings for work.

Accomplishments!

Riglee is doing great!  She sleeps 5-6 hours through the night.  Usually only one wake up about 5 am or so.  I went for my week appointment to have my staples removed - doc was a little bugged when we told him the hospital didn't do it.  I fit into my pre-pregnancy blue jeans for the appointment and I've lost all of the weight I gained during the pregnancy plus 9 lbs.  I am really excited about it.  It's the strict diet I've been on I'm sure.  I need to stick to it and when I get to start exercising again get to it, and hopefully I can loose a lot more!

Brrr It's Cold

This is the picture Adam emailed me this morning when he got to work - This is the fountain outside his office (Kari's Office too - they work in buildings next to each other).  It's so cold here!  They are saying it could snow Friday Morning.

TOFW

Caryn and my mom were planning on going to Time Out For Women this past weekend together in Plano, Texas. However, my Uncle was getting married in Utah on Saturday and so my mom went there instead offering me the ticket. At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to go because Saturday was Adam's birthday and I knew I would only see him for two seconds (if I even saw him at all). Adam was very sweet and told me to go and have fun. He kept Parker for me so that I could bond with my sister! We really had a lot of fun.  I am glad Sonia, a friend from Lufkin, was able to go with us!

Here we are at TOFW Friday night - Don't I look barfy? :)

Caryn and Sonia went up to meet Hilary Weeks and I stayed back to save our seats on Saturday!  There were 1800 women there and we didn't want to loose our great seats!

Friday night we all three got to meet Michael McLean.  Our family grew up listening to his music.  He has been such an inspiration to our family.

Here we are at the sign!  I look barfy once again!

Saturday night after the Conference we went shopping and found this cute burger joint to eat at.  It was called Mooyahs.  It was soo good!

This was the sign at the pick up.  I'd love to be able to text my order in somewhere down here or order online!

This was the sign at our Hotel telling us that if we stole anything we would be charged X amount of dollars for it.  For reals, #15 bucks for a towel??

This is when Michael was performing - I really like his guitar!

We hit up Walmart Friday night to get snacks and drinks for the hotel.  I wanted the tiny bottles of DDP for our cooler because they would fit in there perfect and I could put the lid back on and not worry about it spilling.  However, there was only one pack of them left and it was at the very back of the shelf.  I told Caryn I couldn't get my fat, pregnant body in there to get it and she would have to do it for me since she loves me so much!  She did!  haha :)

I showered at the hotel and when I got out it said "Woo Woo Time".  The time wouldn't show up in the camera, but you can def see Woo Woo.  This means that the cleaning ladies didn't clean our mirror before we got there.  It made me a little nervous and start wondering what else they didn't clean.  :/

We had such a fun time laughing and giggling.  After all the walking and then sitting in one seat for a long time at the conference and all the junk we ate, I was in a lot of pain.  I'm pretty sure it was the hernia and the food, but all of it could have had a factor in it.  The whole way home Sat night I hardly said a word because I was in so much pain.  I laid the seat back a little hoping to get some relief and it never came.  When we got to Caryn's house I laid on the couch and cried.  Justin (her sweet husband) came to see how I liked the conference and went and got Caryn because I was in so much pain and crying so much.  After Tylenol, a Blessing from Justin and sleep (only on my sides - it hurt to lay on my back), I finally had a relief in the morning.

Adam said that Parker was a stinker all weekend.  Cheerios everywhere, toys and books all over the place, he never napped, and Adam never got to work on his homework because Parker wouldn't let him.  He tried taking Parker to see a movie Saturday for His birthday and Parker was so loud and bad, he had to leave after the first 30 minutes.  Adam had a pretty rough weekend, but I'm glad he was willing to let me go!  I had a blast and Kinda want to go to the one in San Antonio in April, but I'll have a 2 month old...Adam said I can't leave both kids with him in April!! haha :)

First Lamar Home Football Game

Adam got us tickets for the first Lamar Home Football Game! It was such a great game (the parts I saw anyways).  We were on the Away Side in the Student section on the second row right next to the band.  The band was a little loud and I didn't like being that close to them, but oh well!  We couldn't see the game unless we stood up because the people in front of us and to the left of us kept standing up blocking our view of the field and the huge screen!

Park kept wanting to sit with Uncle Matt, but it was sooo hot and Matt was the only one in a black shirt...I don't think he'll do that again!
Huge Jumbotron - Parker got to be on it thanks to Aunt Squirt and her connections.  I didn't get it on camera, but thanks to Adams connects, we have the disc that it is hopefully on!  I'll post the video as soon as I find him and crop it!

That's the back side of one of Adam's student workers.  She is on the Color Guard.
The band.
Parker wanting Uncle Matt - Do you love his Jersey???  We have good friends that love us enough to get this for Parker!!!  Thanks!!!
It was so hot!  Parker was so thirsty.  Adam went back in the 3rd Quarter to get us more water and they were totally out.  Adam told them they were going to kill someone!! haha

It was a great game and Lamar won!!!  It was so fun!!

I Absolutely LOVE...

Nutter Butters!!!

Not just any Nutter Butters, but the Nutter Butter Creme Patties - They are so freaking good!!! :)
